The Joburg Film Festival (JFF) is strategically positioned to become Africa’s Premier Film Festival through the curation and showcasing of African and International films whilst providing youth as well as aspirant and established filmmakers and industry professionals with various opportunities for development, training, skills transfer and networking.

Since 2021, Mathibe has been the Creative Director for special events at the Joburg Film Festival. These include a curation of heart rendering and unforgettable entertainment moments in the South African arts industry- some of which have been staged as special performances at the iconic Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Africa’s richest square mile. Some of his memorable curation of performances were collaborations between Msaki, Black Motion and heightened text performance by Nomzamo Mbatha. And in 2023, Mathibe and his team at 2nd Round Productions, produced an epic performance with Thandiswa Mazwai, Zandile Mzazi and Albert ‘iBokwe’ Khoza. Mathibe continues to be the special events Creative Director of choice for this premier African film festival.
